“And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.”

Ephesians 2:20

Saint Mina Church
History

Saint Mina Coptic Orthodox Church was established in 1986 to serve Copts who moved eastward from the Los Angeles area.

Father Abrahim Aziz Gindi, a devoted priest and skilled engineer, played a foundational role in the church’s early years. Driven by great faith and perseverance, he tirelessly worked to secure a parcel of land in the hills of Grand Terrace. Using his engineering background, he sketched the original design of the church and led efforts to obtain all necessary approvals from both the Coptic Orthodox Church and government authorities. Despite many challenges, Father Abrahim succeeded in laying the groundwork literally by completing the basic structure of the first floor. His vision and determination were instrumental in establishing a place of worship for Copts in the Inland Empire. He continued to serve the church faithfully until the ordination of the late Hegumen Father Daniel Farag in 1990.

Together, they supervised the ongoing construction of the church, which transformed into a stunning sanctuary designed in the modern Coptic style, resembling Noah’s Ark. The interior was adorned with sacred artwork created by the late Dr. Isaac Fanous, an accomplishment made possible through many miracles from the Lord during the building process.

Following the passing of the late Hegumen Father Daniel in 2003, Father Macarius Shehata continued his pastoral service at St. Mina Church, carrying forward the spiritual journey of the Saint Mina Coptic Orthodox Church community.
